UT-1 main sponsor KOEN has over 15 years of experience in Operation & Management (O&M) of energy projects and has been able to maintain less than 2% of Transmission Loss which is very low compared to that of Nepal. Thus, KOEN will transfer a high level of O&M skill to Nepal.
Increase of Gross Domestic Product
Foreign Direct Investment in capital intensive areas will result in significant increase in Nepal’s Gross Domestic Product.
Substitution of Diesel Import
Lack of electricity results in huge import of Diesel Import for electricity generators negatively affecting the balance of payments of Nepal. The energy generated by UT-1 can reduce diesel import by more than 20 million USD per year.
Creation of Employment
During the construction period (5 years), 200~500 Nepalese employees will work for UT-1 Project per day. And during the operation period (30 years), 30~40 Nepalese employees will work for UT-1 operation.
